  2. Hi

I shall be moving to London in July’19 and expected to locate in the Harrow/Watford Region
    My son’s DOB is 23rd August ‘2004

Can he enter class 10 ? GCS needs a good preparation
He shall also not get counselling for selecting his subjects ?
Also , he is not likely to get a Good Grammar School because admissions are done a year before through entrance
Since , we shall be relocating when the schools are closed, my son will further face a challenge of getting into a good Govt School

Pls suggest how to handle this

    1. grammar school will indeed be near impossible. You can still join the waiting list. You’ll have to call the respective council (Harrow, for example) for in-year admissions and ask them which schools might have availability.

Hi, My son was studying in class 10 (Indian system-CBSE) and in mid-term we moved to London, UK. His DOB is Feb-2004, and based on GCSE age guideline he is entitled for Year 10 (which is actually class 9). If I enroll him in year 10 he actually losses 1.5 years (1 year of class 9 + half year of class 10). Is there a workaround for this problem? Does schools override age factor in admission for some special cases?

I’m moving to London in mid of Aug 2017, My Son will turn 8 in Aug and my daughter has turned 6 in July.
1.) Which year they will be given admission in the session commencing September 2017? will it be year 4 and year 2 respectively?
2.) What will be the process to get admission in the school, for the session commencing Sep 2017?

    Thanks

    1. yes, years 4 and 2. the process depends on the school, apply to local council for state schools, contact individual schools for private school assessments.

  16. Hi. I have 2 children. Born in December 2008 and September 2011. We plan to move to UK in March 2018 from India and intend to settle in Waltham Forest borough.
    My questions are

    1. Will they be able to secure admissions for Sept 2018 Term.
    2. If Yes, which classes will they be able to join.

    Many thanks.

    1. you will have to contact the local council’s education department to discuss their process. Most likely, you can only apply once you are resident in the UK. But if private schools are an option, you can contact all the local private schools to enquire about spaces already.

Hi , My son is June 2012 and he was studying in KL and we recently moved to UK and as per UK teacher he knows much more than other kids should i request school to skip Year 1 which he will go in September and put him in Year 2. Does this exception happens?

    1. it’s rare but can happen. depending on where you are, you could also look at (highly) selective prep schools nearby, which might well have a much bigger group of children working at an advanced level for his age group. In the end, the year group is just a label, make sure to put him in the best school possible for his ability.

Hi, I am looking at your list of French primary schools on your website, but they do not specify the location. I can’t afford private tuition, so I am looking for a French school in the East Midlands. I live in Nottinghamshire and there don’t seem to be any French schools listed in the Midlands that I am aware of. My nine year old daughter goes to Fairfield Primary and I am looking to enrol her in a French/English school. My son is 2 years old, so I am looking for a French/English day care/nursery school for him. Where would the nearest schools be?
