057_SinclairHouse2013 copyProfile: Sinclair House School is a co-educational nursery and prep school in Fulham that has recently expanded and moved to brand new premises on Fulham High Street (just next to the pre-prep department of the Fulham Prep School). As part of the expansion, the school has just opened a new covered outdoor playground area for the children in the prep school. Children can start at the Montessori accredited nursery aged 2 and now stay until 11+ (girls) or 13+ (boys). Sinclair House School strives to offer a warm, caring and secure environment where the emphasis is on treating each child as an individual, nurturing their talents, building upon their strengths and developing the confidence to achieve academic excellence. Class sizes are smaller than at many other prep schools in this neighbourhood, usually between just 12 and 16 children.

Class sizes tend to be small and there is a very impressive range of extracurriculars and activities, including Mandarin taught by a native speaker, Italian, Martial Arts (weekly lessons as part of the curriculum), Games, Swimming and Drama (among others). The school also offers French, Spanish, Chess, Gym, Ballet and Gardening clubs. Working parents love the free early bird and after-school homework club. Lunches are prepared by an Italian deli nearby, and a shuttle operates between the nursery on Munster Road and the main school on Fulham High Street to facilitate drop-offs and pickups.

Admissions: Parents should contact the Head of Admissions, Mrs Moakes, at the school office to make an appointment to visit the school. The school operates a non-selective policy but early registration and a personal visit are highly recommended in order to obtain an offer.

Thomas’s Fulham and Fulham Prep also used to be popular destinations before the school expansion. The school will continue to target highly regarded senior schools for pupils that will likely include Latymer Upper School, King’s College Wimbledon, St Paul’s, Harrodian School and Emanuel School.

However, we believe that education is about more than just assessment and evaluation; preparatory schooling provides children with knowledge and understanding that helps them to give meaning to their lives, as well as providing qualifications and skills to help them in the future.  Our aim is to promote healthy growth in our pupils – both in terms of their intellectual and human skills, and to foster social cohesion across the school between various cultures and backgrounds.  We promote a positive ethos, and flexible teaching methods to support each individual pupil’s wellbeing and ability (Sinclair House School website).
