Alpha Plus Group expands Wetherby School and Chepstow House

The Alpha Plus groups which owns many top prep schools in London (such as Wetherby School, Pembridge Hall, Chepstow House and Falcons) have announced the creation of a new boys’ senior school in London, which will be known as Wetherby Senior School. The school will open in September 2015 and will form part of the prestigious Wetherby Group, which currently includes both Wetherby School and Wetherby Preparatory School. This school will complete the offering of education in the Wetherby Group from 4 – 18 years.

Wetherby Senior School aims to be an academically rigorous boys’ senior school, which will focus on traditional curriculum subjects. It will be a four form entry school, with each form comprising an average of 15 boys, creating a total roll of 300. The aim will be for boys to apply and transfer to Russell Group Universities at 18.

The main point of entry to the school will be in Year 9 (13+). However, in the initial few years there will be an entry at Year 7 (11+) as well. Enquiries from interested parents are welcomed and they can be directed to Wetherby Preparatory School on 020 7535 3520 or by emailing the school at admin@wetherbyprep.co.uk

The school will be based in Marylebone, at the premises currently occupied by Davies Laing and Dick (DLD) College – a college within the Alpha Plus Group. DLD College has merged with its sister college Abbey College London, Belgravia and will be relocating to brand new purpose built premises in the heart of London at Westminster Bridge Road by September 2015.

Mr Nick Baker, the current Headmaster of Wetherby Preparatory School, will take on a combined Headship of both Wetherby Preparatory School and Wetherby Senior School.

In addition, Wetherby Pre-Prep will add an additional Reception and a Nursery class. The co-educational Chepstow House School will move from its current location in Pembridge Villas to Lancaster Road, W11, and also take in an additional Nursery and a Reception class. Chepstow House will also expand form a pre-prep till 7 to a prep school that goes till 11+. Now we will need to wait and see if Pembridge Hall expands as well!
