The list of pre-prep schools has been shrinking in recent years, as several of them phased out 7+ preparation and encourage all children to stay until 11+ instead. Redcliffe School, Hawkesdown House and St John’s Wood Pre-Prep closed down completely, while Garden House and Falkner House stopped preparing their children specifically for 7+/8+ exams (although many of their parents still take it into their own hands).
Below is a list of schools that still prepare children explicitly for 7+/8+ entry to highly selective junior departments of the top London schools:

- Eaton House Belgravia (Belgravia), boys only, till 7+/8+
- Hampstead Hill School (Hampstead), co-educational, till 7+ (now with an option to stay till 11+)
- The Merlin School (Putney), co-educational, till 7+/8+
- Mulberry House School (West Hampstead), co-educational, till 7+
- Rowans School (Wimbledon), co-educational, till 7+
- Wetherby School (Notting Hill), boys only, till 7+/8+
- Wetherby Kensington (Kensington), boys only, till 7+/8+
