A-Level Results 2026: London’s top 100 schools

Today 13 August 2026 is A-Level Results Day and many London schools have shared record results. King’s Maths School tops the table again when results are ranked by % of grades at A*. As the % of A* awarded for STEM subjects is particularly high when compared to humanities and languages, the ranking is biased towards specialist Maths schools (and schools with a high share of students choosing STEM subjects) somewhat. St Paul’s School in Barnes would be #1 if the ranking was based on the percentage of A-A*s.

Disregarding specialist Maths and Science schools, we still believe a ranking based on the percentage of A* grades is the most accurate, since only 9.6% of A-Levels are graded at A*, whereas 28.5% of grades are A-A*, so the A* is the best way to distinguish schools at the very top.

Below are the top 100 schools in London ranked by A-Level performance based on results so far. Welcome to new entrant Imperial Maths School which went straight to #2.

  1. Can you compare the A-level results of these schools specifically for Biology, Chemistry and Physics? For each school, I want to know what percentage of pupils/subject entries achieved an A* in each of these three subjects, rather than the school’s overall A* percentage across all A-level subjects. Then please rank the schools to show which has the highest A* rate in Biology, Chemistry and Physics individually, and, if possible, which is strongest overall across the three sciences.”

“Please use the actual subject-level results where available, because a school with a very high overall A* rate may not necessarily have the highest A* rate in the sciences.”

    1. you will have to do that manually once full subject results are published by individual schools in November.
That said, sciences actually award a higher share of A-A* grades than humanities subjects, so these tables inherently favour schools with a higher share of STEM subjects (see the Maths schools on top).
