London’s best 100 secondary schools: GCSE results 2026

North London Collegiate School claims the top spot based on % of top grades (8/9s) achieved.

The highest ranked co-educational school is Latymer Upper School again, this time in #6 (#10 in 2025), followed by Highgate again, this time in #12 (last year #14). Further schools will be added and the rankings updated as results are released in the coming days.

The proportion of results issued at grades 7 to 9 (equivalent to the old A*/A grades) across the whole country stands at 23.1 per cent. In London, however, the proportion of grades at 7 to 9 stood at 28.6% this year, showing the gap in achievement between London schools and other regions, particularly in the North of England. All schools in the below table have at least 40% top grades.

Well done to all candidates and their teachers and parents!

  1. Ludicrously good results for Orleans Park Secondary and Michaela. Basically private school results as free non selective state schools! Must be the best in the country.

  2. Any particular reason why this ranking doesn’t include Camden School for Girls? 56% of the girls achieved Grades 7-9 in their GCSEs this year.

    1. As states, results are added as they are published and updated daily. The Camden School for Girls didn’t update until late yesterday and will be added now. They simply published later than most other schools already included.

  3. This ranking does not include any of the top boarding schools, any particular reason ?
Wycombe abbey stands out at 95% 7-9 this year and 88% 8-9 which is top 10 by far. Cheltenham is also regularly positioned in the top 15, along with st Mary’s Ascott.

    1. This is a ranking of top schools in London, hence it does not include boarding schools outside of London. You can check on the table where the schools you quote would rank based on their data. There are many UK wide rankings available, hence this is a specific London ranking.

    1. that’s because they haven’t published the data these tables are based on. They will be added when they publish their GCSE results. What they have published is that “79% of our girls achieved grades 7-9”, which is not the same as “79% of grades were at 7-9”. This ranking is based on the statistic of percentage of grades at 7-9, which the school hasn’t published yet.
